Photo Art Friday, week 5

This week I tried out Bonnie's tutorial over at Pixel Dust Photo Art.   I took a photo of our Cimicifuga plant during the last week of September.  It is a tall plant and also goes by the names - black cohosh, bugbane, snake root.  I like the creamy racemes this plant produces, quite striking.

The texture I used to create this photo art is available at Pixel Dust, and is called Scratches.

Here is the original photo before processing.

I continued using the same tutorial without the texture, using only filters, on another photo.

A interesting effect!

Here's the original photo

The bush is called Viburnum, withrod or sometimes wild raisin.

Photo Art Friday, week 4

Yesterday, while on a walk along the harbour front, I spotted this bumble bee enjoying the sunshine and flowers.

This week I tried an online tutorial, here is the result -

For the lighthouse photo , I simply used one or two PSE filters, etc.

Making use of another tutorial, I created some aged paper and used it on this photo

Photo Art Friday, week 2

Last weekend Hurricane Katia passed by Nova Scotia.  It was far enough off shore that we had a beautiful sunny day with lots of huge waves.  Many surfing enthusiasts grabbed their surfboards and headed to the beach.  I initially used a crosshatch filter, but took it off; I think I may have sharpened and perhaps bumped up the contrast, if I recall right - did this earlier in the week.

This photo was taken the same day.  The couple on the beach are watching the surfers waiting to catch the next promising wave(s).  I did use a PS warming filter to make it appear as if this was taken later in the day.

This photo was taken  at the same place, just before sunrise, lots of mist from the river rising .... processed in PSE8 using Bonnie's free overlay - pdpa dream.
